Sessions combine musical, career, and life coaching in person or via Zoom/with or without singers.

Program Goals
Build core repertoire in the genres of most interest to each pianist
Increase comfort with idiomatic language and diction
Prepare repertoire for recitals, auditions and competitions
Grow style differentiations
Improve score reduction and orchestral sound in operatic and oratorio repertoires
Expand comfort in playing recitatives
Create goals and craft achievement plans
Receive guidance in coaching singers
Initial Consultation (optional)
Collaborative Pianists bring a range of representative repertoire to sing/play with or without a singer. They will provide a resume, repertoire list, bio, headshot, career goals and personal artist mission statements for review. In the course of the session, the artist will receive musical feedback, repertoire suggestions and help in establishing a six- month goal plan.
Sessions
Collaborative Pianists will work on playing repertoire or speaking texts of their choice, with or without singers collaborating in the coaching session.
Fee
$85/ hr or $125 for 1.5 hr. (Consultation or Sessions)

Arlene Shrut has been a mentor to generations of musicians, both as coach/collaborative pianist and on the Mentoring Faculty at the Juilliard School of Music. Formally trained by arts educator, Eric Booth, her work has ranged from supporting freshmen in making a smooth transition from high school to conservatory, to guiding graduate students’ entrepreneurial projects.
Dr. Shrut was the Founder and Artistic Director of New Triad for Collaborative Arts, a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the experience of live classical music through offering audience engagement skills to musicians. An admired keyboard performer hailed as a “strong and sensitive pianist” by The New York Times, Arlene served as a faculty member of The Juilliard School for 27 years and additionally coaching singer/pianist duos at Manhattan School of Music. Dr. Shrut formerly served on the faculties of Syracuse University, Mannes College of Music, and The Aspen Music School. She was honored in 2003 as the inaugural “Coach of the Year” by Classical Singer Magazine.
